All Male Panel is a satirical dance theatre piece about a meeting, in which the participants are caricatures of statesmen of today. The meeting is supposed to deal with climate change, but in fact it is preoccupied with itself – the piece is a caricature of political theatre in the year 2017.
The political culture of our times is characterised by a ever more aggravating discourse of populism, uncertainty and polarisation. While our capacity to read media becomes more and more challenged by click baits, targeted newsflashes and alternative truths, our traditional media simply hasn’t found it’s means to handle the occurring mass sharing of misinformation. It seems like the stand-up comedians and tv-satire, risen into wide popularity throughout the world, have been the the only ones to efficiently react to blatant lies and impulsive behaviour. However, in dance arts stage pieces representing political satire are scarce. Political satire has a clear demand both in the context of dance stage culture and purely as a political and social act.
All Male Panel had it’s premier in Hämeenlinna, Finland, 28.11.2017. The piece is a collaboration between Hämeenlinna ARX, RRR, Co-operative Arts Society Apinatarha, Stoa Cultural Center & Kinetic Orchestra dance company.
