Like There's No Tomorrow

Kinetic Orchestra's newest contemporary dance piece is a visual triumph inspired by Philippe Halsman's photographic work Dali Atomicus (1948).

The piece consists of overlapping scenes culminating over and over again in a unique final moment. In the spirit of surrealism, the work's movement, music and the visual world burst with distinctive, imaginative and freely malleable elements that somewhat spontaneously collide together, seeking catharsis.

As the performance progresses, the dancers, things, and objects on the stage reorganise and transform continuously, creating surreal sculptures and landscapes. This dense dance piece repetitively accelerates towards its end, offering dreamlike views in which the concept of time dissolves and tomorrow becomes forgotten.

Kinetic Orchestra is known for its physical and skilful combining of different dance techniques, acrobatic partnering and martial arts. This also shines through in Like There's No Tomorrow, with the dancers pausing in seemingly impossible moments, flying and catching each other at an almost relentless pace.

“The soft and viscous movement is like a dream, and nothing seems to be impossible for the four dancers: Anni Koskinen, Kalle Lähde, Suvi Nieminen and Oskari Turpeinen. The contacts are steady and precise, and despite the technically demanding and fast material, the dancing is marked by freedom and ease.” Demokraatti 9.12.2022, Annikki Alku
